Birmingham City Schools announce summer lunch distribution sites

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Birmingham City Schools will be offering free summer meals for children to help out families as summer break truly kicks off.

Starting Monday, June 15, free meals will be available to all children, ages 18 and younger, at select Birmingham City Schools campuses and Housing Authority of Birmingham District locations.

Meals will be served Monday through Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. Martha Gaskins Elementary School will operate on Fridays, serving meals from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“Our goal is to make sure no child goes hungry during the summer break,” said Michelle Sailes, BCS Child Nutrition Program Manager. “We are proud to provide healthy meals in safe and welcoming environments while continuing to support our students and families beyond the classroom.”…
