LOUISIANA, La. (KLFY)- A new Louisiana law inspired by the Mall of Louisiana shooting that killed Lafayette teen Martha Odom will expand the circumstances under which prosecutors can pursue first-degree murder charges.
House Bill 102, which takes effect Aug. 1, broadens the state’s first-degree murder statute to include certain shootings in public places where multiple people are placed at risk.
