Man who made Adams County Courthouse bomb threat sentenced

DENVER (KDVR) — A man was sentenced for making bomb threats to the Adams County Courthouse in February, according to a press release from the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office on Thursday.

On Feb. 4, 2026, around 8:00 a.m., the Adams County Communications Center received a call about a bomb threat being made at the Adams County Courthouse in Brighton. Police traced the call’s origin to a payphone at the gas pumps of a King Soopers at 490 E. Bromley Ln.

Officers responded to both locations, evacuating approximately 1,000 people from the courthouse and 100 from the King Soopers. Court proceedings were postponed for nearly four hours during the incident.

Brighton police identified the caller as 47-year-old Steven Sandoval, who had been scheduled for a sentencing hearing that same day after recently pleading guilty to identity fraud…
