A US city is charging residents who miss their trash pickup window — and the $50 fee kicks in this summer.
The city council is expecting to make an $80,000 windfall once homeowners are forced to pay the fine.
On Tuesday, the city council in Peoria, Arizona, which is a suburb of Phoenix, approved the fine at the city’s annual fee review.
“Beginning July 2, 2026, a $50 fee will be charged when Solid Waste crews are required to return to a residence to pick up trash or recycling outside of the regularly scheduled weekly collection route, when city records show the container was not placed out for service on time,” the city of Peoria said…
