ALBANY — The Center for Disability Services doesn’t have special education teachers for 14 of its 15 classrooms at Langan School. Now it’s facing an uncertain future as a result of a recent decision by the state Education Department.
The Education Department investigated after a parent complained in March that her son’s class was being taught by aides instead of a licensed teacher. The department found that her son’s school district was at fault for placing him at Langan School, which teaches more than 170 children with disabilities from 58 school districts.
