BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield City School District Board of Education is set to consider seven potential names for Cesar E. Chavez Elementary School during its regular meeting Tuesday.
The Cesar Chavez Renaming Committee reviewed names submitted by students, staff and members of the community to prepare a list of recommended names for the Board, according to the agenda.

The names selected by the committee are listed below:
- Mesa Marin Elementary School
- Citrus Grove Elementary School
- Horizon View Elementary School
- Sunrise Valley Elementary School or Spanish alternative Valle del Sol Elementary School
- Mountain View Elementary School
- Harvest Valley Elementary School
- Katherine Johnson Elementary School
The Board is only expected to consider the nominations at the 6 p.m. meeting June 9 at 1300 Baker St., according to the agenda. The final name selection is scheduled for the June 23 meeting.
