Cooling trend starts Saturday; winds to increase, with highs dropping into 80s and 90s

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — After a progressively hotter week, temperatures are expected to begin their downward trend Saturday. The ridge of high pressure, which has exerted increasing influence over our region will be pushed aside, at least a bit, as a trough moves into the Pacific Northwest.

Locally, winds should pick up, especially across the Kern River Valley, as pressure changes regionally and stronger winds develop in the atmosphere.

South Valley highs could drop into the low 90s, the Kern River Valley could get back into the upper 80s, the mountains may stay in the 70s. The desert will probably hold onto the warmth the longest, with afternoon readings in the mid 90s possible on Saturday…
