Local police department reminds residents about the dangers of swimming in quarries

CAMP HILL, Pa. — After responding to “numerous” incidents at quarry sites in its jurisdiction over the last two weeks, a Cumberland County police department issued a reminder Monday about the dangers of swimming in the industrial sites.

“Quarries may look like tempting places to cool off, but they are dangerous,” the Lower Allen Township Police Department said Monday. “Swimming in a quarry can be fatal.”

There is one active and three former abandoned quarries in Lower Allen Township. Trespassing in any of them to swim is both against the law and dangerous, the police department said…
