NEW HARTFORD, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A pair of men from Chicago and New York City were arrested in the town of New Hartford over the weekend in a cryptocurrency fraud investigation.
The investigation began after a report from a resident of the town of New Hartford, who reported that he had been the victim of a fraudulent investment scheme. The scheme involved trading cryptocurrency online as well as online communications.
During the course of the investigation, investigators with the New Hartford Police Department found that the victim had allegedly been manipulated into transferring large sums of money to the scheme.
