NORRISTOWN — With a split verdict, a jury convicted a Skippack Township man of assaulting his onetime girlfriend but acquitted him of a more serious charge of strangulation in connection with a domestic incident at his former Perkiomen Township residence.
Austin Jorge Crawford, 31, most recently of the 4900 block of Skippack Pike, showed no emotion in a Montgomery County courtroom as a jury convicted him of a misdemeanor charge of simple assault in connection with a July 8, 2023, incident involving a woman with whom he had been involved in an on-again-off-again relationship.
With the verdict, the jury determined Crawford attempted to cause or knowingly or recklessly caused bodily injury to the woman, who, according to testimony, suffered bruises during the assault. Prosecutors alleged Crawford kicked and punched the woman during the domestic assault…
