Quincy’s culinary star Laurence Louie falls short in ‘Top Chef’ finale

CAMBRIDGE ‒ Laurence Louie fell short in his quest to be America’s “Next Top Chef,” coming within inches of winning the $250,000 grand prize.

After making it to the final round, Louie, the acclaimed Quincy chef and owner of Rubato on Hancock Street, was runner up to Rhoda Magbitang of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

Fans and supporters packed Harvard Square’s iconic Hong Kong Restaurant, which opened more than 70 years ago, for the finale watch party…
