Akron METRO workers overwhelmingly reject proposal to prevent strike vote

AKRON, Ohio (WJW) – Members of the union representing Akron METRO bus drivers have voted overwhelmingly, 294 against to 2 for, rejecting recommendations made by a fact finder that would have ended a stalemate between the union and the bus service since their last contract expired two years ago.

The union said its 300-plus members have worked without a pay raise for the past two years.

Both the METRO Board of Directors and union members have anxiously awaited the results of the fact finder’s report that was started in November with the expectation that it would be completed in just a few weeks.
