STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The FDNY responded to a major fire at a historic Staten Island apartment building dating back to the 1890s century in Port Richmond on Tuesday.
A report of a fire at 160 Heberton Ave., the Parkside Senior Apartments building located between Vreeland and New streets, came in around 10:10 a.m., according to a spokesperson for the FDNY.
According to the spokesperson, the fire was in the cockloft of the building — the space between the top floor of the dwelling and the roof.
