Man charged in fatal shooting of father in Ashland

ASHLAND, Neb. (WOWT, KOLN) – An Ashland man accused of fatally shooting his father last week has been charged.

Robert Haswell Jr., 31, made his first court appearance Monday. He was charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm to commit a felony. He is being held without bond.

Authorities said they received a report of a shooting on Thursday at 4:34 p.m. in the 1700 block of Dawes Street. The Saunders County Sheriff’s Office said after phone negotiations, Haswell Jr. came outside unarmed and was taken into custody.

The victim, Robert Haswell Sr., 67, was shot at least once and pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy was performed Saturday…
