BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – THE NEXT 24 HOURS: Temperatures this morning are starting in the low 70s under a mostly fair sky. Heat and humidity will build this afternoon, with highs in the low 90s. With the humidity, it will feel like the upper 90s to near 100. An isolated shower or storm is possible in east Alabama, but most spots stay dry with a mostly sunny sky. If you’ll be outside, drink plenty of water and take breaks in the shade.
END OF THE WEEK: Thursday looks much like today. Highs in the low 90s with a 20% chance for an isolated storm. Any storm that develops could bring heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning. Heat continues Friday with highs in the low 90s and heat index values between 100 and 105. Scattered storms develop Friday afternoon, but it should not be a washout. Keep an eye on updates on the First Alert Weather App if you have outdoor plans.
THE NEXT BIG THING: A wetter pattern will develop this weekend. Expect scattered storms Saturday with a partly to mostly cloudy sky and highs near 90. Rain chances increase Sunday, with numerous showers and storms likely into Monday as a weak cold front approaches the Southeast. With more clouds and rain, highs dip into the mid- to upper 80s on Sunday. Stormy weather may linger on Monday, and we’ll be monitoring for heavy rain and isolated flooding. Long-range guidance suggests an additional 3+ inches of rain across central Alabama over the next seven days.
