PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The man accused of violently assaulting a Rhode Island Hospital nurse in 2023 apologized to the victim before changing his plea on Wednesday.
George Bower, 39, was charged with felony assault, assault of a health care provider and disorderly conduct stemming from a violent beating of Rhode Island Hospital nurse, Scott Amaral, in September 2023.
On Wednesday, Bower changed his plea from not guilty to no contest. He was sentenced to 20 years with 10 years to serve. R.I. Magistrate Judge Gina Lopes said Bower, who has been incarcerated since May 15 last year, will receive credit for time served…
