AUSTIN (KXAN) — Central Texas is known for its rivers, creeks and lakes, and with many families jumping in the water to cool down for the summer, water experts said taking a few precautions before could make a big difference.
Mike Koleber with Nitro Swim School said while many may still choose a swimming pool to cool off, those jumping in the lake need to remember not all bodies of water are the same.

“Swimming in a pool, you can see the bottom,” Koleber said. “Depending on where you’re swimming in the lake, most times you cannot. You don’t know how deep the lake is. You don’t know what could be under the surface.”
