HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – Good Wednesday evening all! A much quieter evening this evening compared to yesterday when we had all the wicked winds that caused extensive damage to property and vegetation. Now, while it’s quiet now, it may not be over night for some as isolated strong to severe storms will fire up early Thursday morning across central and eastern portions of the area.
This Evening/Overnight: The evening should be quiet and dry for everyone. It’s when we head deeper into the overnight hours when a few showers should develop across western Nebraska with a line of thunderstorms developing across central and eastern Nebraska into tomorrow morning. A few of those could become strong to severe as the Storm Prediction Center has a slight risk (level 2 of 5) in place, which includes the Tri-Cities eastward through the Lincoln area. Primary threats will be large hail to hen egg size and damaging wind gusts to near 60 mph. There is also a flood threat as these storms could train over the same areas dumping localized amounts of 1 to 2 inches of rain.
Tomorrow: Temperatures will be much cooler tomorrow in the wake of a cold front with highs in the 70’s, a few low 80’s to the southeast. Isolated showers and storms from the morning clear out leading to another sunny day Thursday. Winds will pick up anywhere from 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph at times…
