ROCKFORD — The number of homes listed for sale in April doubled from the same month a year ago and the region’s skyrocketing price growth has slightly cooled, according to the latest data from the NorthWest Illinois Alliance of Realtors.

The inventory of homes on the market grew from 141 in April 2025 to 284 this April, a 101% increase. The average price of a home sold in Winnebago, Boone and Ogle counties rose nearly 10% from $219,379 last April to $240,655 this year, the data shows…
