Mid-Michigan residents urged to prepare ahead of potential severe weather

LANSING, Mich. (News 10) – With strong storms possible Thursday night in Mid-Michigan, residents are being urged to prepare themselves and their homes.

Weather officials recommend taking several steps ahead of Thursday’s storms:

  • Secure patio furniture and other loose outdoor items.
  • Take down bird feeders and anything that could be blown around by strong winds.
  • Charge phones, tablets and other electronic devices.
  • Fully charge power banks and backup batteries.
  • Finish laundry and other household tasks that require electricity.
  • Run errands before 9 p.m.
  • Plan to be home or at your destination by sunset.
  • Avoid unnecessary travel once storms move into the area.
