Mark Pope has become incredibly well known, and for the most part beloved, for his generally clean approach to the sidelines. His rare curse words make headlines because the guy would much rather opine on his players’ wonderful spirits and this program’s precious legacy than he would tear anybody down.
I’m not saying that isn’t still the case, but Coach Pope made relatively waves on social media this past week by debuting a new bearded look. Not only does he look a little more serious with facial hair (a natural side effect), but the change of pace was first seen alongside a commitment announcement for five-star 2027 forward Ryan Hampton.
That’s Pope’s biggest recruiting win on the high school front ever, full stop. Coincidence? The BBN isn’t so sure…
