COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – A First Alert Weather Day is in effect today as afternoon “feels-like” temperatures will reach the triple digits. A Heat Advisory has been issued for parts of the Midlands where feels-like temperatures may approach 108 degrees.

First Alert Summary:
Today will be the hottest day of the year so far, which is why a First Alert Weather Day remains in effect. Under a blend of clouds and sunshine, high temperatures will top out at 99 degrees! Factoring in the humidity, it’ll feel as hot as 106 degrees.
Because of how hot today will be, the National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for parts of the Midlands. It remains in effect until 8 PM. Drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks if you’re spending time outdoors, and be sure to check on your pets.
Today’s forecast high temperature will get close to an all-time record! Today’s record is 100 degrees, set back in 1977.
Saturday is also a First Alert Weather Day because of the heat and humidity. High temperatures will reach the upper-90s. “Feels-like” temperatures will get as high as 104 degrees. Sunday will be hot and humid as well. High temperatures will reach the mid and upper-90s. “Feels-like” temperatures will top out at 103 degrees.
Although not by much, Sunday is a tad cooler. Temperatures will start to drop next week thanks to rain chances. Heading into next week, we’ll return to more of an unsettled weather pattern, featuring daily opportunities for showers and thunderstorms.
