After key witnesses skip trial, judge dismisses capital murder charges against Mobile man

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Julian Demond Woods was supposed to go on trial this week for capital murder. Instead, he is a free man.

When the 30-year-old Moble man’s trial date arrived, two key prosecution witnesses were no-shows. Mobile County prosecutors sought a postponement, but the trial already had been delayed once before, and Mobile County Circuit Judge Vicki Davis granted a defense request to dismiss the charges, although she left open the possibility for a new indictment.
