FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WALA) – The shrimp harvest is on in Mobile Bay. Waters opened less than two weeks ago and area shrimpers have been getting some good hauls. That means fresh shrimp at the dock on both sides of the bay.
Heritage Seafood’s boat hit the dock in Fairhope Thursday to a huge line of local seafood lovers. Heritage owner Patrick Gormandy has been finding large numbers of white shrimp in the bay when the weather has cooperated.
“I think we’ve worked six days in a row now,” Patrick Gormandy said. “The first three days we were restaurant orders and wholesale orders and had a guy from Huntsville come and buy some and so today they get to take some home with them.”
The latest haul brought in close to 1,800 pounds of extra-large shrimp. Gormandy keeps his fans informed through social media so they’re ready and waiting well before the boat hits the dock…
