The city of Providence is suing the major manufacturers of fire trucks, claiming they’ve consolidated competition causing significantly higher prices and long waits for trucks to be delivered.
The city filed the federal lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Providence Thursday against Oshkosh Corporation, Pierce Manufacturing, Inc, Terex Corporation, Rosenbauer America LLC, and the Fire Apparatus Manufacturers’ Association.
The lawsuit claims, “The City of Providence cannot avoid the harms inflicted by this market transformation. The City is paying more, to wait longer to upgrade and modernize its fleet, while fires do not stop and emergencies continue to demand action to save lives and property.”…
