Two volunteer firefighters to lead Cherry Fest Parade

WHITEHOUSE – When Richard Snyder and Tom Vincent ride in a ladder truck at the front of the Cherry Fest parade as grand marshals on June 13, the two longtime volunteer firefighters will represent not just themselves, but all of the men and women who have volunteered throughout Whitehouse Fire Department’s 130-year history.

“Neither of us have done this for the glory. It’s basically for the love of the community,” said Snyder, whose 43-year firefighting career included 31 years as a volunteer first responder with Whitehouse.

Vincent, a retired physical education, science and health teacher, joined the department as a volunteer in 1995, shortly before Snyder, and retired after serving as a firefighter/EMT for 31 years…
