The sounds of local artist Kalyn Fay (Cherokee Nation, Muscogee descent) illuminated Mercury Lounge in seemingly effortless form, projecting a light over Tulsa that otherwise could have been missed on the overcast evening of June 11.
Fay featured songs such as “Grown up in Cherokee County” which she mentioned that her father helped her write and “Way Out,” which tells the story of how the Oklahoma born-and-raised singer-songwriter was looking for a way out of Massachusetts while living there for a brief period of her life.
The performance felt as if you were welcomed on to her own front porch hanging out with her as she and Stephen Lee played together, laughing and enjoying the moments shared, fostering what could arguably be the happiest of “happy hours” currently ongoing in Tulsa…
