Felon arrested after Memphis hotel raid, accused of selling fentanyl, meth

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis man with multiple violent felony convictions is facing drug and weapons charges after investigators say they found fentanyl, methamphetamine, firearms and drug paraphernalia during an investigation at an Airport area hotel.

According to the West Tennessee Violent Crime and Drug Task Force, agents concluded an investigation on June 10 into the alleged sale of fentanyl from a room at the Deluxe Inn & Suites on Lamar Avenue.

Authorities said agents with the task force, the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Memphis office of the Drug Enforcement Administration conducted a traffic stop on 43-year-old Stephen Shelby during the investigation.
