LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — The man accused of critically injuring a Lexington police officer during a traffic stop in April was indicted Monday.

According to the Lexington Police Department, Officer Kevin Van Wert attempted to conduct a traffic stop at the Meijer gas station.
During the stop, Naqeeb Mufallah, 31, reportedly drove off, dragging Van Wert along the roadway, into a light pole, and throwing him to the ground.

Court documents show that Mufallah was indicted for first-degree assault of a police officer, being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun, first-degree fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, first-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest, and not having the rear license plate illuminated.
