$4 billion Multnomah County budget set; at least 158 positions eliminated

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Multnomah County leaders have approved a new $4 billion budget that cuts spending for the second year in a row, even as the county continues to invest in key services.

The Multnomah County Board of Commissioners recently adopted the budget in what was described as a tough budget environment affecting not only the city of Portland but the county as well. The budget includes investments in areas such as homeless services, public safety, mental health and addiction services, and Preschool for All.

At the same time, the budget reduces several departments and eliminates at least 158 full-time positions…
