MURRELLS INLET, S.C. (WBTW) — On June 14, 1777, Congress adopted the red, white, and blue flag that evolved into the symbol we see today, and the Murrells Inlet Elks Lodge honored that pivotal moment during their annual Flag Day ceremony.
The Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks became the first and only fraternal body to require a formal observation of Flag Day in 1908.
