Tulsa museum seeks donations to preserve A-26 ‘Lady Liberty’

TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa Air and Space Museum is asking for donations to help transfer and restore the A-26 Invader known as ‘Lady Liberty’ for permanent public display in Tulsa.

The Commemorative Air Force announced that its American Airpower Heritage Flying Museum Board approved the transfer of the aircraft to the museum after determining the warbird would not return to flight following a 2025 accident.

Aircraft’s future decided after 2025 accident

For more than a decade, Lady Liberty served as the flagship aircraft of the CAF Lady Liberty Squadron in Enid. The aircraft appeared at airshows, educational programs and community events, helping connect thousands of people with military aviation history and the legacy of World War II veterans.

In November 2025, the aircraft was involved in an accident at Ponca City Regional Airport when a nose gear failure occurred during an aborted takeoff. No injuries were reported, but the aircraft sustained substantial damage…
