Sweet Tax Relief For NYC Homeowners

Thousands of New York City homeowners will start receiving tax relief checks this summer through New York’s School Tax Relief (STAR) program, Governor Kathy Hochul announced on Tuesday.

Over 470,000 city property owners will be owed about $150 million, Hochul said. Most homeowners with income below $500,000 will see a tax relief of $250 to $600, while seniors with income below $110,750 will see anywhere from $700 to $1,500. Eligible residents will start to see the funds directly deposited or sent via check through the mail in the summer and fall.

“The start of summer is also the start of STAR tax relief season for millions of New Yorkers,” Hochul said in a statement. “From tax credits and energy rebates to our expanded child tax credit and middle class tax cuts, we’re continuing to put more money back in New Yorkers’ pockets.”…
