MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – The Madison community gathered at Penn Park on Tuesday afternoon to honor Anita Howard, a 60-year-old community leader who dedicated years to supporting families affected by gun violence and tragedy.

“She was like, I don’t know, she was just the last person I expected to leave us so soon,” said Elonie Williams, Howard’s granddaughter.

Jackie Morris, a close friend of Howard for about 25 years, called her “the mother of the community.”…
