ICE Operation in Sevier County Leads to Over 100 Arrests in a Week

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — Federal immigration officials say 117 people were arrested during a weeklong enforcement operation in Sevier County and surrounding areas in East Tennessee.

According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the operation took place from May 24 through May 30 in partnership with ICE New Orleans and several local law enforcement agencies.

Authorities said some of those arrested were facing or had previous charges such as theft, domestic assault, driving under the influence, and attempted aggravated sexual battery. Officials also noted that some individuals could face additional federal charges, including illegal reentry into the United States…
