Base rates for most Oro Valley water users are going up 3.6% on the Fourth of July.
On June 3, the Oro Valley Town Council approved a recommendation from utility director Peter Abraham to increase the utility’s base charge for residential users by $1.86 a month, from $23.31 to $25.17.
That base rate — “what you pay to have a meter every month, whether you use water or not” — is applied to customers with a five-eighths-inch service line, Abraham said. Base rates for users with larger meters are also increasing. In Oro Valley, the “vast majority” of users are residential.
