Dog Bite Awareness Month: USPS works to reduce attacks on mail carriers

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – The U.S. Postal Service is asking for the public’s help in protecting mail carriers from dog attacks.

In 2025, USPS recorded 126 dog attacks in Virginia, including four in Roanoke. That number is down from 2024, but the U.S. Postal Service said it wants to bring the total to zero.
