STERLING, Va. (7News) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers said they seized and destroyed 139 pounds of Ethiopian Khat at the Washington Dulles International Airport.
The officers said they first found the Khat in early June while inspecting a shipment from Ethiopia to California that was supposed to contain spices. At least 10 of the 102 boxes contained Khat worth $17,000 in street value.
