Carlisle man claiming he has ‘highly contagious’ disease spits in officer’s face: police

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A Carlisle man is facing charges after reportedly spitting on an officer on Wednesday after being placed in custody for public drunkenness.

Carlisle police said they were called to a reported disturbance at the 200 block of Noble Boulevard, where Paul Michaletz was displaying erratic behavior with obvious signs of alcohol consumption. He was charged with:

  • Aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer
  • Disorderly conduct
  • Public drunkenness

He was visibly angry and claimed he had a communicable disease that was highly contagious while ignoring officers’ attempts to communicate with him.

At the scene, the police said they made several attempts to calm down Michaletz after he grew increasingly aggressive toward them. He ignored several warnings and continued to escalate the situation to the point of spitting at officers on the scene…
