AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Maverick Boys & Girls Club of Amarillo is set to partner with Prairie View A&M University Potter County Extension Agents Mica Malacara and Jasmine Flores to bring the “Learn, Grow, Eat & Go” program to campers this summer, aimed at providing an engaging hands-on experience with gardening and nutrition.
According to Maverick officials, the summer program will introduce youth to gardening, healthy living, nutrition, and global agriculture through interactive activities focused on Nigeria, Japan, and the Texas Panhandle. Summer campers will be set to participate in weekly gardening lessons, nutrition demonstrations, food tastings, and hands-on learning experiences during the program.

“This program combines gardening, nutrition, culture, and youth development in a way that allows students to truly experience learning through doing,” said Malacara. “We are excited for youth to explore where food comes from, learn healthy habits, and take pride in growing something with their own hands.”…
