Iowa Announces New Water Quality Projects in Altoona, Asbury, Des Moines and Osceola

DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig announced Thursday that four more urban water quality projects will receive state support in 2026, including work planned in Altoona, Asbury, Des Moines and Osceola.

According to state agriculture officials, the department will provide $746,517 for the four projects. The funding is expected to help leverage nearly $3.04 million in total investment.

Officials said the projects are intended to improve water quality, manage stormwater, reduce nutrient runoff and add recreational or educational benefits in Iowa communities. The latest announcement follows an earlier round of 2026 urban water quality projects announced in May…
