Alleged shoplifter swallows bag of fentanyl during traffic stop

DENVER (KDVR) — An alleged shoplifter reportedly swallowed a bag of fentanyl during a traffic stop in Broomfield, according to a post on X from the Broomfield Police Department.

On Saturday, June 13, around 9 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shoplifting incident at a Walgreens near Midway Boulevard and Highway 287.

The officers were given a description of the suspect and their vehicle, which was spotted at a nearby King Soopers. The vehicle traveled north toward Dillon Road, where the officers conducted a traffic stop after they reportedly caught the suspect speeding.

During an investigation, officers found several bags of stolen merchandise and a list detailing the items that had been stolen, as well as other stores in the area that may have been targeted…
