Fort Wayne City Utilities to use federal grant to launch updated Lower St. Joseph Watershed plan

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Fort Wayne City Utilities announced Thursday that it recently received a nearly $135,000 federal grant from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management’s Clean Water Act Section 205 (j) grant program.

According to the department, the grant will be used to launch an updated plan to protect the Lower St. Joseph Watershed, a primary source of drinking water for more than 300,000 people locally.

The updated plan will include ‘a management section to assess the quality of the watershed through monitoring different sites and an outreach section to engage with the public and provide watershed education through workshops and events’…
