Fire damages two West Eugene homes Sunday night

A fast-moving fire damaged two homes in West Eugene on Sunday evening, forcing firefighters to contend with downed power lines and venting propane tanks as flames spread into attic spaces.

Eugene Springfield Fire responded to the residential fire involving two homes just after 7:30 p.m. on June 21, after calls to Central Lane 911 reported a fire in an abandoned home at the intersection of West Broadway Avenue and Grant Street. Another caller reported flames above the roofline at the home on Broadway.

Engine 2 and Tower 2 arrived a little more than three minutes after dispatch and found a large volume of fire on the back side of both homes, extending into second-floor interior areas and attic spaces…
