Good morning, y’all. A cold front moving into the seasonably hot and stuffy air over our state will bring another round of potentially severe thunderstorms to some areas this afternoon and tonight.
Locally damaging wind is the only significant concern with the storms. Of course, you never say never with the hail and tornado hazards, but the risk is only slightly above zero.
As for timing, the storms likely arrive in the western Upstate late this afternoon and march eastward through the evening. Storms should weaken as they reach the I-20 Corridor tonight.
The cold front will lag behind the storms and push through on Tuesday. It will trigger a few more storms, but less available moisture will limit the coverage. The storms will be most widespread over the north and east. However, a stronger storm here and there could lead to a few instances of damaging wind…
