17-year-old charged with terrorism for alleged role in shootings

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A 17-year-old facing multiple charges related to a string of shootings last month has now been charged with terrorism, according to Travis County court records.

An arrest affidavit for the new charge was filed Monday. It details 13 shootings and six other crimes that happened on May 16 and May 17.

According to the Austin Police detective who wrote the affidavit, suspect Cristian Mondragon allegedly committed terrorism through these incidents. KXAN is working to contact Mondragon’s attorney.
