PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An 85-year-old hiker who sustained serious injuries while hiking in Marion County was rescued by emergency responders last week.
On Thursday, June 18, at 7 p.m., the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a hiker who had fallen and sustained serious injuries roughly one mile up a trail near Breitenbush Hot Springs.
“Due to the challenging terrain, Marion County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue volunteers were called to assist with the rescue,” the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post. “Using a wheeled litter and technical rope systems, SAR members safely transported the patient from the trail to the trailhead, where he was transferred to Lyons Ambulance for further medical care.”
