CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Travis Wilson, one of the men accused in a fatal 2020 shooting that killed one person in downtown Charleston, is set to appear before a judge once again on Tuesday after a decision on his competency to stand trial was delayed earlier this month.
On June 15 an initial competency hearing for Wilson was held and at the hearing, two mental health experts testified that they believe Wilson is no longer competent to participate in criminal proceedings against him. This prompted the judge to call a recess on the case, with a scheduled return date of June 23.
An initial report from the shooting states that Wilson, who was 16 at the time, and two other teenagers attempted to rob the victim, Tom DiLorenzo and his wife, Suzanne Austin, as they walked along King Street in July 2020.
