Shadow Ridge apartments murder suspect held to answer, pleads not guilty: Records

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A man accused of killing 30-year-old Yolanda Rojo in northeast Bakersfield in March will face trial after a judge found there is enough evidence to proceed, according to Kern County court records.

Victor Farias was held to answer on charges of murder, child cruelty and hit-and-run resulting in property damage. Farias pleaded not guilty today, records show. The case was previously delayed in April.

The case stems from an incident March 25, when Bakersfield police were called about 9:47 p.m. to a report of an assault in the 7000 block of College Avenue. Officers found a woman later identified as Rojo, of Bakersfield, with severe injuries. She was taken to Kern Medical, where she later died.

Farias was captured by Tehachapi police the following day and taken into custody by Bakersfield police. Police said his vehicle was found abandoned near Tehachapi near Highway 58 and Tucker Road just after 11:30 p.m. March 25 after an apparent hit-and-run crash…
