Woman charged with attempted murder after unprovoked stabbing in Old Town

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — A woman is facing attempted murder and other charges after police said she stabbed a stranger in an unprovoked attack early Sunday in Downtown Portland.

Officers responded at about 1:45 a.m. June 21 to reports of a stabbing in the 400 block of Northwest Sixth Avenue in Old Town, according to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB).

When officers arrived, they found bystanders providing aid to a 23-year-old woman who had been stabbed. Officers took over medical aid until paramedics arrived and took the woman to the hospital. She is expected to survive…
